Dalton's atomic model
Dalton's model was that the atoms were tiny, indivisible, indestructible particles and that each one had a certain mass, size, and chemical properties that were determined by what kind of element they were.
Dalton's Atomic Theory
- Matters/ Elements are made up of extremely small particles called atoms.
- Atoms cannot be created, destroyed, or divided as they are the smallest particles of matter.
- Chemical reaction of elements is a rearrangement of atoms.
- All atoms of a particular element are identical.
- Atoms of different element are different from each other and can be identified by their relative weights, (atomic weight).
- Atoms of different elements can combine in a chemical reaction to form chemical compounds in fixed ratios. ( That means that no matter how much of two or more elements are used in a reaction the ratios of the final chemical compound would remain fixed.)
